It's Monday! What are you reading? was started by Sheila at Book Journey and was adapted for children's books from picture books through YA by Jen of Teach Mentor Texts and Kellee of Unleashing Readers. You can visit either site for a round up of blogs sharing their weekly readings and thoughts or search Twitter for #IMWAYR.

A Seed is the Start (2018) by Melissa Stewart. This is a great new picture book from Melissa Stewart featuring amazing photographs from National Geographic that will be a mainstay in many Science classrooms. Read my full review here.

Middle Grade

Breakout (2018) is the latest from Kate Messner. This is an interesting and engaging book told in a unique format (actually, many, many formats). Read my full review here.

Happy Reading!

  1. I'm convinced that I will be the very last person to read both of these books since it seems to take forever to get some books in my neck of the woods. But they're both on my TBR list!! Thanks for sharing your reviews and have a wonderful reading week!

  2. Really enjoyed Breakout and loved how it was told in so many different ways. I think it'll be a great book to hook reluctant readers

  6. I really enjoyed both of these books as well. I am considering reading Breakout with my class in September (grade 6). A Seed to Start was great to share when we started to plant our school garden in the spring. Thanks for the post!
