If You Like Big Game by Stuart Gibbs ...

This semester, my students are sharing book reviews in a different format, linking one book they thought many people in the class might have read and another that would appeal to a reader of the first book. (Please note that my third graders read a wide variety of books across a wide variety of genres, levels, and topics. Do not think that these books are "only" for third graders.)

This "If you like ... read this next ..." format was inspired by the We Need Diverse Books summer reading series. They used the format to encourage people to find and read diverse books, so all of their "read this next" choices highlight great, diverse book choices. You can find their posts here on their Tumblr page.

If You Like Big Game ...

By: Chance

If you like Big Game by Stuart Gibbs, then you should read Evil Spy School (or any of the Spy School books) by Stuart Gibbs.

Big Game is the third book in the FunJungle series, which begins with Belly Up and then Poached. [Read my review of Belly Up here.]

The book Spy Camp by Stuart Gibbs is kinda' scary because at one part there is a guy somewhere and I'm not going to tell you what happens next. The first book (Spy School) is about a guy who goes to this school and then it is really a spy school. Some weird things happen in this book. But otherwise I think everybody should read these books. The third book is called Evil Spy School.

  1. What an excellent idea. I may try this with my students. :)

    1. Thanks, Crystal! They really enjoyed doing it, as well as sharing with each other. It also helps position them as readers with preferences.
