In the acknowledgment section she notes working with the Haitian People's Support Project as well as thanking the librarians who helped her with her research. I was still left with these questions - Is it appropriate for a white woman to write the story of a black girl who lives in a country she has never been to? Where does the profit from this book go? If it goes to support schools and learning conditions in Haiti, then I would be more likely to let go of my discomfort. You raise some good questions about Serafina's Promise. It always bothers me when authors writing about different cultures don't provide ample information about their research and writing process. I will be sure to avoid reading the book covers when I check this one out from the library!Elisabeth Ellingtonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00747914394861199796noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7722037294375418886.post-49958393636908163322015-02-02T10:58:37.758-06:002015-02-02T10:58:37.758-06:00I really need to get to Shelter Pet Squad.
